Abu Dhabi Is Not Dubai — Different Utility, Different Regulator, Hotter Design Day
Abu Dhabi has its own permitting chain and its own numbers, and one of the names most contractors still print on submittals no longer exists. Here is the current position.

The utility name changed in 2025
Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC) and Al Ain Distribution Company were brought under a single brand, TAQA Distribution, applied to customer-facing services from January 2025 — a submittal that still says "ADDC" is out of date. Fire and life safety approval sits with the Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA), which publishes its own fire-safety guidance rather than simply deferring to the Dubai route. Building permits are issued through the Department of Municipalities and Transport (DMT), established by Law No. 30 of 2019, via Abu Dhabi City Municipality, and the DMT-published planning instrument is the Abu Dhabi Capital Development Code (September 2022).

The hottest design day of any market we serve
ASHRAE's 0.4% summer design dry-bulb at Abu Dhabi International is 45.1 °C — nearly two degrees above Dubai — with a 30.6 °C design wet-bulb. For a wellness floor that means two things at once: the cold-plunge chiller and any ice machine must be selected on a high-ambient basis, and the pool hall and steam lobby have to be dehumidified against a latent load that a temperate-climate calculation badly under-reads. We size the plant at concept stage, before the layout is frozen, because plant rooms discovered late are the single most common cause of a redesign.

We measure the water rather than quote a number
Abu Dhabi is on desalinated supply, so the same physics applies as in Dubai — soft, low-TDS, weakly buffered water that is more likely to attack pipework than to scale it. But TAQA Distribution does not publish a delivered hardness or TDS figure the way DEWA does, so we will not print one. On Abu Dhabi projects — and particularly on island sites such as Saadiyat, Yas and Al Reem, where coastal exposure adds its own corrosion duty on outdoor cabins and plant — we take a sample from the actual supply and specify against the result, not against a regional assumption.

Do you serve Abu Dhabi?
Yes. Abu Dhabi projects are delivered and supported through our UAE operations — authorised representative Al Parimar Trading L.L.C., Latifa Tower, World Trade Centre, Dubai (Trade Licence No. 1457128, Dubai Chamber member). Consultations are available on-site in Abu Dhabi or at the office.
How much does a custom sauna or spa cost in Abu Dhabi?
We quote per project rather than publish a range, because the same specification lands at a very different total from one building to the next. What moves the figure is the size of the cabin or wet room, the timber and stone grade, the heater or steam generator selected, how much of the enclosure is glass, the waterproofing, tanking and drainage the room already has, and how far power, water, drainage and ventilation have to be brought to it. Send us the room dimensions, the ceiling height, the access route and the services already reaching the space, and we return an itemised, position-by-position quotation covering equipment, construction and installation.
How long does a spa project take in the UAE?
A single sauna or steam room typically takes 6–10 weeks from design approval to commissioning, including manufacturing at our Türkiye and European facilities and installation in Abu Dhabi. Complete villa spa packages run 12–16 weeks; hotel projects are scheduled per the construction programme.
Are your installations compliant with Abu Dhabi regulations?
Yes. All UAE installations are engineered to the local electricity and water authority's requirements (TAQA Distribution, which replaced ADDC in January 2025), municipal wellness-facility guidelines, Abu Dhabi Civil Defence Authority (ADCDA) fire-safety standards and ESMA conformity — including island and investment-zone developments such as Saadiyat and Yas.
Can you invoice in AED?
Yes. AED-denominated invoicing is available through our UAE entity, alongside the international invoicing options of our parent company established in 1987.
