Hammam maintenance and service
Faults in a hammam build up slowly: the platform heating, the joints and the steam supply wear over time. Maintenance follows all three.
Hammam maintenance covers the heated marble platform (göbek taşı), the kurna basins and taps, the steam supply and the joints in marble and mosaic. We check the heating circuit, descale the steam generator, test the drains and renew failing grout before water reaches the waterproofing layer.

What we check in a hammam
Heated platform (göbek taşı)
The heating circuit under the platform can scale up on hard water, and the stone stays cold at one edge. We map the surface with a thermal camera and clean the circuit without lifting the marble.
Marble and mosaic joints
In areas that stay wet, grout and pointing wear. Renewing them on time keeps water away from the waterproofing layer under the finish.
Steam supply and ventilation
The steam generator cylinder is drained and descaled. If the ventilation rate drops, steam condenses on the dome and drips, so the air change is measured too.
Kurna basins and taps
When a kurna tap stops holding the mixed temperature, the cartridge is replaced. Brass tap bodies are polished and resealed as separate items.
Drains
Floor channels, gullies and traps are cleared so the floor drains to its falls.

Typical intervals for planning. The equipment manufacturer's manual and local regulations take precedence, and hotels and clubs with daily use need more frequent checks than a home.

Frequently asked questions
Why is one edge of the heated platform colder than the rest?
Usually scale in the heating circuit under the stone. A thermal camera shows where the flow drops; the circuit is cleaned chemically without lifting the marble.
How do you stop water getting behind the marble?
By keeping the joints closed. Worn grout and failed silicone are renewed before water reaches the waterproofing layer, which costs far less than repairing the layer itself.
Why does the hammam dome drip?
Most dripping comes from a drop in the ventilation rate rather than from the dome shape. We measure the air change before changing anything else.
Do you service hammams you did not build?
Yes. The first visit is a condition survey; we report what we find and quote the work before doing it.
