Sauna maintenance and service
Heater, controls, stones, timber and ventilation, checked against the heater manufacturer's manual.
Sauna maintenance keeps the heater, controls and timber in working order. We check the heating elements, wiring and control unit, replace worn stones, and clean, sand and treat the benches. If a part needs replacing, we tell you first and change it only with your approval.
What the visit covers
What we check in a sauna

Heater and electrics
Heating elements, terminal connections, cable insulation and the safety cut-out are checked against the heater manufacturer's manual. Where a heater has to be replaced, we fit the manufacturer's current model sized for the room, for example an EOS heater.
Control unit and sensors
The temperature sensor, over-temperature limiter, timer and any Wi-Fi panel are tested; error codes are read and written into the report.
Timber
Benches, backrests and duckboards are cleaned with a sauna cleaner and a soft brush, lightly sanded where stained, and treated with a sauna-safe finish. Damaged boards are replaced in the same species.
Stones and accessories
Crumbled stones are replaced so air can pass through the heater. The bucket, ladle, thermometer, door seal and hinges are checked.
Ventilation
Supply and exhaust vents are cleared and the air change checked, so the heater is not working against a closed room.
Schedule
Sauna maintenance schedule
| Interval | Task | By |
|---|---|---|
| Daily | Air the cabin after the last session, wipe the benches, keep the heater guard clear | Operator |
| Weekly | Wash benches, backrests and floor with a sauna cleaner; check the door seal and the lights | Operator |
| Every 3 months (hotels and clubs) | Heater and control check, stone top-up, vent check | Sauna Dekor technician |
| Yearly | Electrical test of heater and control, stone replacement, timber sanding and treatment, written report | Sauna Dekor technician |
Typical intervals for planning. The equipment manufacturer's manual and local regulations take precedence, and hotels and clubs with daily use need more frequent checks than a home.

Questions
Frequently asked questions
How often should a sauna be serviced?
A home sauna is usually serviced once a year. Hotels and clubs with daily use need visits more often. Daily airing and weekly cleaning are done by the owner or the operator.
Do you service saunas you did not build?
Yes. The first visit is a condition survey; we report what we find and quote the work before doing it.
Which heaters do you fit when one has to be replaced?
The heater manufacturer's current model, sized for the room volume, for example EOS heaters and controls. The heater and its certificates belong to the manufacturer.
Can the timber be restored instead of replaced?
Usually. Stained benches are cleaned and lightly sanded, then treated with a sauna-safe finish. Only cracked or rotten boards are replaced, in the same species.
What warranty applies to rooms Sauna Dekor built?
24-month warranty on workmanship and manufacturing; 24-month manufacturer's warranty on electrical and mechanical equipment; 5-year warranty on structure and waterproofing. Manufacturers' own equipment warranties run in parallel.
