Pool maintenance and service
Circulation, cleaning and water chemistry, kept on record so the plant room and the operator's log say the same thing.
Pool maintenance is circulation, cleaning and water chemistry. We service the pumps, filters and dosing equipment, inspect the filter and backwash routine, check water balance and disinfectant records, the overflow channel and the balance tank, and write every reading into the report.
What the visit covers
What we check on a pool
Circulation and filtration
Pump and motor, strainer baskets, valves and the filter are inspected; the backwash routine is set to the filter pressure, not to the calendar alone.
Dosing and water balance
Dosing pumps and probes are calibrated, and the operator's pH and disinfectant records are checked against the readings we take.
Overflow channel and balance tank
Channel grilles, the balance tank and its level controls are cleaned and tested, so the overflow runs evenly.
Heating and pool hall air
On indoor pools the water heating and the dehumidification are checked together, because one sets the load of the other.
Surfaces and fittings
Tiles, grout, ladders, lights and inlets are surveyed for movement, corrosion and loose fixings.

Test frequencies for hotel and public pools are set by local regulations and the operator's written procedure (in the UK, HSE HSG179; in the US, the CDC Model Aquatic Health Code). Typical intervals for planning. The equipment manufacturer's manual and local regulations take precedence, and hotels and clubs with daily use need more frequent checks than a home.

How often should pool water be tested?
The operator tests pH and disinfectant every day and logs the results; hotel and public pools follow the frequencies set by local regulations and their written operating procedure.
How often should a pool filter be backwashed?
When the filter pressure rises to the level set at commissioning, not on a fixed day. The pressure reading is part of the daily check.
Do you service pools you did not build?
Yes. The first visit is a condition survey of the pool and the plant room; we report what we find and quote the work before doing it.
Do you also check the pool hall air?
Yes, on indoor pools. Water heating and dehumidification are checked together, because the air handling has to match the pool's evaporation.
