Relaxation Room Design and Fit-Out
Short answer: A relaxation room is the last stop of a thermal circuit: after the sauna, hammam, steam room or a treatment, guests lie down here before they dress. Sauna Dekor Spa Solutions works out the lounger count from the spa's capacity and builds the room, its loungers and finishes from its own facility in İkitelli OSB, Istanbul.

What should you know before planning a relaxation room?

Where does the relaxation room sit in the circuit?
It closes the circuit. Guests come here after the sauna, the hammam or the cold rooms, so the room goes away from doors, plant and circulation, in the quietest corner. Sauna Dekor has completed 577+ hotel and resort projects; our thermal suite guide explains the order of the rooms.

How many loungers does the room need?
The count comes from capacity, not floor area. Add up how many guests the 3 heat rooms — sauna, hammam and steam room — hold at the same time, then allow for the time each guest rests before leaving. Send us the room list and the capacities and we return the lounger count with a layout drawing.

Why does thermal comfort come before finishes?
The room is held where a guest leaving the sauna does not feel cold and a guest leaving the steam room does not feel hot. Air temperature and ventilation are agreed with the MEP engineer first; light and sound come on top. UK Approved Document F and ASHRAE 62.1 are 2 common ventilation references in GCC specifications.

Which surfaces suit damp skin?
Guests arrive barefoot and often damp, so every surface must be wipe-clean and stand daily cleaning. We build heated relaxation loungers in stone, marble, ceramic or mosaic over a heated core, and specify upholstered loungers with removable covers. Structure and waterproofing carry a 5-year warranty.

How are sound and light handled?
A relaxation room depends on separation from the plant room, the wet areas and the corridor. Doors close softly, the plant is isolated and the light is indirect, with no bright downlights over the loungers. The same 3 rules apply to the treatment rooms that usually sit next to it.

Which water, treatment and rest rooms do we build?
5 rooms between the hot and the cold side of a spa, each with its own sizing, materials and services: jacuzzis and hot tubs, shower systems, massage room design, relaxation rooms and heated relaxation loungers. They come together on our spa and wellness page.
Jacuzzi and hot tubs
Wellis hot tubs or built-in hydromassage pools, with filtration, dosing and controls planned with the room.

Valves, heads, outlets and controls as one system; experience showers add scent, light and sound.

Which materials are used in a relaxation room?
Wipe-clean surfaces throughout, because guests arrive barefoot and damp: heated loungers in stone, marble, ceramic or mosaic, or upholstered loungers with removable covers, combined with indirect lighting and soft-closing doors.
Where should the relaxation room be placed?
Away from doors, plant rooms and circulation, at the end of the circuit and close to the changing rooms, so guests do not walk back through the wet areas. Sound separation from the plant room is planned at the layout stage.
