Overview
Sauna Dekor is a sauna, hammam and spa manufacturer and turnkey contractor. We have built thermal areas since 1987, we are in our 40th year, and our joinery, marble and cabin work is produced in our own workshop in İkitelli, Istanbul before it ships. Projects have been delivered in more than 35 countries.

Scope of work
A dry-heat cabin fitted into an existing home: insulated cabin structure, internal liningsand benching, heater and control, glazing, lighting, and the ventilation and electricalinterfaces with the building. Made and dry-assembled in our Istanbul workshop, then numbered,delivered and installed.
What an apartment adds to the problem
Putting a sauna inside an apartment introduces three constraints a detached house does nothave. Floor loading: the cabin, its heater and its stones are a concentrated load, and in abuilding with a slab shared with other homes that load is confirmed before anything is ordered.Acoustics: the fan, the heater’s contactor and the door all make noise that carries through ashared structure, so the cabin is isolated from the slab and the control gear is mounted whereits switching is not audible next door. Ventilation into the building’s system
An apartment cabin almost never has an external wall to work with, so the air path isdesigned into the building rather than through it: supply low, near or under the heater,extract low on the opposite side, ducted into a route that can accept warm moist air. Ventinginto a bathroom or a corridor is the common shortcut and the common failure — it moves thehumidity a few metres and leaves it in the home. Without a proper path the cabin alsostratifies, hot at head height and cold at the ankles, which is what makes people say a sauna”doesn’t work” when the heater is perfectly adequate.
Heat load, supply and build-up
General practice sizes a cabin at roughly a kilowatt of stone-heater output per cubic metreof volume, with additions for glazing and for masonry surfaces. In an apartment the supply tothe unit is usually the binding constraint — heaters above a modest rating need three phase —so it is confirmed first. The cabin is an insulated box: insulation, a continuous foil vapourbarrier with taped laps, a ventilated cavity, then kiln-dried, low-resin lining with concealedfixings. What we solved on site
Installing inside an occupied apartment building means noise, dust and lift access are thegoverning site conditions, not carpentry. Everything was manufactured, dry-assembled andchecked in our Istanbul workshop, thendismantled into pieces sized for the building’s lift and stair, numbered, and reassembled onsite with no cutting. The installation was a short, quiet operation rather than a buildingsite in someone’s home.
Frequently asked questions
Can a sauna go into an apartment?
Yes, if three things are checked first: floor loading for a concentrated load on a shared slab, an air path that takes moisture out of the home rather than into a party wall, and acoustic isolation so switching and fan noise do not carry.
Is venting a cabin into the bathroom acceptable?
No. It moves the humidity a few metres and leaves it in the home. The extract needs a route that can genuinely accept warm moist air, ducted into the building’s system.
Why does a cabin feel cold at the ankles?
Stratification, caused by a missing or short-circuited air path rather than by an undersized heater. Supply belongs low near the heater and extract low on the opposite side.
How is the work kept quiet in an occupied building?
By finishing everything in the workshop, dismantling into pieces sized for the lift and stair, numbering them and reassembling on site with no cutting.
