While the dimensions of our systems may vary, its approximate volume is a generous 29 liters. The filling amount is adjustable, ranging from 5 to 15 liters based on personal preference. Cold water is the whole mechanism, which is why the feed temperature is the thing that has to be controlled. What a shock bucket needs from the building
A tipping bucket is a simple object with awkward requirements. It is fixed above head height and tips several litres at once, so the fixing is structural — a resin-anchored plate or a built-in steel backing, not a wall plug. The water arrives from a cold feed and, in most spa installations, from a chilled or tempered supply so the shock is repeatable rather than dependent on what the mains happen to be doing in August. And the whole volume lands on the floor in about a second, so the gully has to take it without backing up, on a floor that is tanked and falls to the drain.

Where the shock station sits in the circuit
A shock bucket only works if it is reachable within a few steps of the heat room — guests will not cross a spa floor wet and hot to find it. It belongs immediately outside the sauna or hammam door, on the wet side, with a warm rinse available before the cold if the circuit follows a hammam or scrub ritual. Frequently asked questions
How much water does a shock bucket hold?
Commonly around 15 to 40 litres depending on model and setting, released in roughly a second. The figure matters less than the drainage: the gully and the floor fall have to take the entire volume at once without spreading it across the spa floor.
How is a shock bucket fixed to the wall?
Into structure, not into finish. We use a resin-anchored plate or a steel backing built into the wall behind the tiling, positioned during first fix. A filled bucket plus the dynamic load of tipping is well beyond what a plasterboard fixing or a standard wall plug will hold.
Does a shock bucket need chilled water?
In a Gulf installation, usually yes. Mains cold water in summer is not cold, so a chilled or tempered feed is what makes the effect consistent through the year. Where a cold plunge with a chiller is already in the scheme, the shock station is often fed from the same plant.
What maintenance does a shock bucket need?
Daily cleaning of the bowl and the surrounding floor, periodic descaling in hard-water regions, and a check of the pivot, the rope or handle and the anchor fixings on a scheduled inspection. Stainless and timber finishes are cleaned to their own schedules; access to the pivot has to be possible without removing the wall.
